HeroConnect was established to assist firefighters, paramedics, and EMTs find, land, and thrive in careers outside of the fire service.

Our mission is to simplify the application and resume-building process, empowering humanitarians to embark on a career in this vital field. While many aspire to work for FEMA, EM encompasses more than one agency, offering opportunities to make a significant impact across virtually every sector and industry worldwide.

We also place special emphasis on aiding retiring and burned-out firefighters in transitioning from the fire service to equally fulfilling careers that leverage their unique skills and experiences.

About the Founder

Stephanie started HeroConnect in response to many transitioning firefighters and aspiring emergency managers reaching out to her in frustration with navigating their career transition or landing a job with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

She started her career in 2008 as an EMT and transitioned into the Emergency Management field in 2015. Since then, she has worked in multiple sectors including non-profit, FEMA, local and state government, and consulting. Her diverse background uniquely qualifies her to guide others through their career navigation. Along the way, she has mastered resume writing, job hunting, and interviewing. Notably, she possesses in-depth knowledge of FEMA’s inner workings and has mastered the intricacies of the USAJobs application process, helping clients get referred for FEMA positions time and time again.

She enjoys karaoke and lives in the Washington, DC area with her wife and their cat Paw Revere.
